The Botswana Tourism Organization (BTO), established under the Botswana Tourism Organization Act [Cap 42:10], is responsible for marketing Botswana as a top tourism destination, driving investment and ensuring the classification and grading of tourism facilities. Its duties include promoting tourism attractions, developing marketing strategies, fostering sustainable tourism with various stakeholders, implementing government policies, expanding travel trade networks, conducting market research, enhancing tourism standards and diversifying tourism opportunities. BTO also supports the growth of tourism enterprises and facilitates partnership to elevate tourism projects to marketable standards.
