Sand River Masai Mara, located on the Sand River near the Tanzanian border, captures the charm of 1920s exclusive tented camps. The camp features 16 elegantly appointed tents, including a family tent, divided into two private areas with separate dining and public spaces for added exclusivity. Renowned for exceptional game-viewing, particularly of big cats like leopard, cheetah, and lion, it also benefits from the spectacular Annual Migration. Its secluded location provides a classic and immersive safari experience amidst the abundant wildlife of the Masai Mara.
The Masai Mara Game Reserve, or "The Mara," spans 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) of diverse landscapes, including grasslands, riverine forests, and acacia clusters. Located about 270 km from Nairobi, it’s accessible by a 5-6 hour drive or a 40-45 minute flight. Renowned for its rich wildlife, the reserve is home to the "Big Five" (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhinoceros) and the "Big Nine" (adding cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and hippo). It’s also famous for the Annual Migration, a year-round spectacle that draws visitors to witness the dramatic wildlife movements.
